When Teresa was sixteen she started as a volunteer at an Elderly Peoples Hospital, while volunteering Teresa also worked in Residential care until she was 18, at this time Teresa then started to work full time in the hospital. Teresa was at the hospital for 9 and a half years until her sons where born, after which Teresa carried on with care in a home on night shifts. Teresa did this until her sons started nursery and then continued to work days.
Teresa then started work for Tender Loving Carers. Teresa started working in the community as a carer, caring for people in there own homes. Teresa says she enjoys this work as it is very rewarding and every call is different from one person to another. After working for TLC for 4 years Teresa completed her NVQ Level 3 and various other training courses. Teresa progressed up to a position in the office where she started off coordinating cover. Teresa was the cover coordinator for a while then was offered the position of Whitstable coordinator. This is the position Teresa is in today. Teresa continues to work in the community and enjoys her work very much. Teresa is in her 16th year with Tender Loving Carers and hopes to continue caring for the elderly in the future.
